The short version: MyTripNext is a destination discovery tool. We do not sell your data, we do not require an account, and we store as little as possible. This page explains the details.

1 What we collect

MyTripNext is designed to collect as little data as possible. Here is what we may receive when you use the site:

  • Usage data: Standard server logs including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is typical for any web server and is used for security and performance monitoring only.
  • Search inputs: The filter selections you make (dates, temperature preference, activities, etc.) are sent to our server to return results. We do not store these searches in a way that is tied to your identity.
  • Contact form submissions: If you contact us via the contact page, we collect the name and email address you provide, along with your message.

We do not collect: your name, email address, or any account information unless you explicitly contact us. We do not build profiles of individual users.

2 How we use it

The data we collect is used for the following purposes only:

  • Returning destination results in response to your search filters
  • Keeping the service running reliably and securely
  • Diagnosing technical problems when they occur
  • Responding to messages you send us via the contact page

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any form of automated decision-making that affects you.

3 Cookies and local storage

3.1 Analytics and advertising cookies

MyTripNext uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, and may serve personalised advertisements through Google Ads. These services set cookies and collect data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and interaction patterns. We implement Google Consent Mode v2, which means these cookies are only placed after you have given your explicit consent.

3.2 Your consent choices

When you first visit MyTripNext, a consent banner will ask for your permission before any analytics or advertising cookies are set. You may accept all, reject all, or manage your preferences individually. You can withdraw or update your consent at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer.

If you decline analytics or advertising cookies, Google Consent Mode v2 will still allow Google to model aggregate, cookieless measurements while respecting your choice. No personally identifiable data will be shared with Google in this case.

3.3 Local and session storage

Independently of your cookie choices, we may use your browser's local storage or session storage to preserve your filter state between page navigations (for example, keeping your date selection when you return from a destination page). This data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to any server.

3.4 Third-party services

If you use an external service linked from our site (such as booking platforms for hotels or flights), those services operate under their own cookie and privacy policies.

4 Third-party services

To provide certain features, we integrate with or link to the following types of external services:

  • Wikimedia Commons: Destination hero images are loaded from Wikimedia's servers. Wikimedia may log your IP address when serving these images under their own privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts: We load typefaces from Google Fonts, which may log font requests. You can review Google's privacy policy for details.
  • Booking partners: Links to hotel and flight booking platforms (such as Booking.com or GetYourGuide) take you to third-party sites with their own privacy policies. We have no control over what data they collect.

We do not share any of your data with these services beyond what is technically necessary to load the page.

5 Data retention

Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are deleted. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, and no longer than 12 months.

Any data stored in your browser (local storage / session storage) is under your control and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

6 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data. These commonly include:

  • The right to know what data we hold about you
  • The right to request deletion of your data
  • The right to correct inaccurate data
  • The right to object to certain processing activities

Since we do not create user accounts and retain minimal data, most enquiries can be handled quickly. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

7 Children

MyTripNext is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of MyTripNext after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
